Samantha Durnan & Band - plus Rupert Stroud - 7th February 2015

Artists' websites: Samantha Durnan / Rupert Stroud

Samantha Durnan:

Radio 1: ‘What a voice!'

Fresh from being played on Radio 1, she’ll be bringing her amazing new full live band show to House Concerts York. As well as Radio 1, she’s been played on BBC 6 Music, Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing – not to mention support slots with the likes of Ed Sheeran, The Hoosiers, Beverley Knight, and Kate Nash. She was also recently invited by the BBC to attend the prestigious Abbey Road/Maida Vale Studios, and has now been signed to a record label.

Writing her own songs and playing the guitar since before she even discovered eyeliner, Samantha’s talent proves that if you’re born with it and work hard to craft it…you’ll make it.

Samantha’s influences come from the new and classic alternative rock sounds of Stevie Nicks, KT Tunstall and Michelle Branch meaning she’s not only makes great music but she understands credible artistry.

2015 already sees this little songbird, with a voice more intense and shudder inducing than most of the UK charts, gigging in America, Dubai, Houston, Australia and more to be confirmed.

TFM: ‘’Her music kept the audience up-beat and set the tone for female independence….’’

Radio 1 Jen & Ally: ‘What a voice’

Soundbites: ‘’Samantha Durnan went down a storm at Stockton Fringe Festival, big voice, big future.''

Bob Fischer: ‘’As soon as I heard the songs from Samantha’s Album, I was knocked out - very powerful and emotional stuff, and she’s got a fabulous voice.’’

Rupert Stroud:

Displaying strong-hearted, beat driven acoustic rock, inspired tracks. Rupert Stroud possesses fantastic vocal ability. Having been compared to Richard Ashcroft, Jim Morrison and Nick Cave with a hint of Elbow, Stroud has attracted attention from music media, BBC Introducing / BBC 6Music (Tom Robinson) + BBC Radio 2 (Dermot O’Leary show), XFM Radio, BFBS Radio 2, NME and Q Radio...

Rupert’s working with eminent British producer Will Jackson (The Kaiser Chiefs, Embrace, The Cribs). It was his work with Will that produced Rupert’s second album “Chasing The Night”. This was a breakthrough project for Rupert and saw him dubbed as one of Yorkshire's hottest young artists.

“Chasing The Night” took the internet by storm receiving rave reviews with online press and magazines.
