16th January 2010 - Emaline Delapaix Trio + support from Maple Mountain - £10.00

A very special & haunting Winter show entitled 'In the Winter Dark', with guests on violin, Japanese koto, and more.

Emaline Delapaix Emaline Delapaix is an Aussie singer songwriter who lives in a cabin on an island in Canada surrounded by mountains and a giant lake with her big orange cat Reece. She spends a lot of time writing odd folk pop for piano, acoustic guitar and harp and sometimes whatever else she has lying about the place. Some say she sounds a little like Kate Bush or Tori Amos, but she also loves a lot of Scandinavian music: music that invokes the weather like storms and warm sunsets.

A live performance with Emaline Delapaix is a lot of fun, lots of laughter, unusual instrumentation, intricate rhythms with clever and achingly beautiful arrangements held together by exquisite vocals and harmonies. Her new record ‘Peculiar Places’ will be out soon, followed by lots of lovely shows in North America, Europe and the UK.

She will be accompanied by Jessica Stuart, and another - forming the Emaline Delapaix Trio.

Emil Brynge (Maple Mountain), from Sweden has been compared to a modern Nick Drake with his haunting resonant music.

26 February 2010 - Bex Marshall & Luke Brindley- £10.00

Songwriter/producer Bex Marshall possesses a guitar skill that has been likened to Stevie Ray Vaughan to Derek Trucks, Rory Gallagher to Robert Johnson.

She exudes excitement and charisma as she performs solo or with her band on stages across the globe. She is an adventuress, a writer, seasoned guitar player and passionate vocalist, her musical influences are varied and many although comparisons have ranged from JJ Cale to Hendrix, her music has been described as... “Bonnie Raitt and Led Zep jamming in an everglade moonshine joint”.

Her song writing is highly praised in her latest album reviews….“Touches of genius” “Staggering” ‘Intelligent and interesting’, ‘Timeless’, ‘…She has mastered the art of making new material sound like its been found in long forgotten vaults” Net Rhythms.
