Jerry Scott was born in Cambridge in 1950. He attended Magdalene College, Cambridge, where he read Theology briefly before leaving to study Fine Art at Norwich Art School. After completing the four-year course, he went on to complete a year of post-graduate study at the internationally renowned St Martin’s School of Art in London where he was taught, amongst others, by the painter Alan Gouk whose work has remained a powerful influence.

As a practicing artist in London, he and other like-minded, aspiring artists organised and took part in a number of exhibitions in London including group shows at Kenwood, Holland Park, and the National Theatre on the South Bank.

After a break from painting to concentrate on family matters, he started painting again regularly eight years ago. Over the last two years he has had four one-person exhibitions in London and in York and has work in a number of private collections.

Some responses to the artist's paintings:

"For our part, we continue to get more and more out of our lovely painting ... finding deeper levels of interest and complexity in it ... It's a real joy to us - thank you again and again."

"... We have been looking with admiration and longing at your paintings ... absolutely lovely: vibrant, richly textured, complex, succulent and utterly beguiling . . ."

"... Gorgeous paintings. I'm so envious. I so wish I was doing paintings like that with all that sumptuous colour

" ... your paintings improve one's playing of Bach on the piano - strange but true!"

" ... Stunning work - fresh, lively wonderful colour ..."

" ... Wonderful! Exuberant - could look at them forever!"

"... I love your paintings! They really are delicious."
